Asphyxiated by the Mind
By: Emma Drew
Reaching for that door,
I almost reach it when,
The thoughts grab me by the throat
And pull me back in again.
I’m struggling to fight;
I’m battling just to breathe,
Praying someday those thoughts will go
The ones suffocating me!
Help will be there waiting
On the other side of that wall.
If only I could make it to that door
Or if someone would hear my calls!
I barely dare to think against them
Because I know they are so much stronger.
For now I cry, hope, and cling on to,
“Hold on just a little bit longer.”
