Description: Ciara loves her job, sometimes a bit too much. She’s often blowing off her friends and family to work overtime on a case for no extra pay. The rest of the team aren’t surprised to see her passed out in her office in the morning or nodding off towards the end of the day.
She decided to become a CSI when she was a child and her father died of a drug overdose. Her mother is also addicted to cocaine and had been in rehab for a couple of years because she can’t seem to stay off of the drugs. Her younger sister discovered the wonders of being an alcoholic at the age of fourteen, so spends most of her time at bars. Ciara is constantly having to bail her out of trouble, pay her DUI tickets, and pick her up at the station at being arrested for some reason or another.

Description: The hyperactive guy, who always seems to have a smile on his face. He’s very positive and often gets on people’s nerves. His colleagues love his perky attitude most of the time but sometimes he’s a bit too happy.
The story behind all of this is actually quite sad. Brett’s mother tortured him as a boy, doing awful things to him and scarring him for life. He tries not to let this keep him down, however. He makes up for his unsettling past by being over happy.

Description: Being new to the force and the youngest on the team, Surinadi is rarely taken seriously. This causes much trouble and grief when a serial killer plagues the city and has chosen her to confide in. She is not a morning person and that certainly shows every time she goes to work at 6 am. Her temper isn’t easily provoked, but if you annoy her too much, be ready to get told off and she isn’t too nice about it either.
Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was nine, and Surinadi lived in numerous foster homes until she was seventeen and got emancipated. She never told anyone that she was also in that accident and that it left lasting mental and emotional scars on her. Or that the reason she left her last foster home was because her foster father had raped her almost daily.

Description: Major stress case. ‘Chill out’ and ‘Take it easy’ aren’t in her vocabulary. Miranda loves her job and her three kids, but should really consider taking a vacation every once in a while.
As a child, she grew up watching all of the crime shows her could find. Ever since she was a little girl, Miranda knew that she wanted to become a CSI, just never knew that she would become lieutenant.

Description: Marcus is very serious about what he does, but always tries to have fun for the sake of his canine partner, Jenna. He is a father of four and is happily married to his wife of six years, Natalie.
His dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather were all cops and great ones at that. Marcus wanted to be just like them. From an early age, he had always asked his dad if he could go to work with him.

Description: True to her job, Jovenlen is hated by practically everyone on the force. She loves to push everyone’s buttons and get them into trouble, but then again, it’s in her job description to just that. She has yet to marry, but hey, who would want to marry someone so cold?
Actually, the real reason is that she has a bad habit of picking the abusive boyfriends. She currently has TROs out on four of her ex’s. She gave up on trying to find the right guy after her last boyfriend tried to kill her. Despite that, Brett seems to have a thing for her. Who knows, maybe he’s ‘the one?’

Description: This tall, Midwestern beauty gave new recruit (and main character) Surinadi McLowin the ritual hazing for their department. She always sees the bright side of things, even when it’s the worst possible; as in the ‘It’ case (making them better at their jobs by reminding them that no clue should go unchecked).
An only child, Cassia was raised by her single mother, and never knew who her father was (She saw the good in this as she never knew the man who beat her mother on a regular basis). Can be like an over-protective mother bear if someone threatens the people she loves and works with. Got hooked on being a CSI by watching every episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, and CSI: Tidewater.

Description: Quiet, nerdy, very sarcastic and devastatingly shy, Tanya doesn't really have any life outside of her job. She's too nervous to get a boyfriend since she has low self-confidence and honestly doesn't know how to conduct herself in social situations. She's the wallflower who stays in the background and just quietly does her work and doesn't ask for much recognition. But if you set her off, you are unleashing a tidal wave of fury, for she keeps her feelings bottled up, and if you bother her enough, you are screwed.
The only one of the team who had a comparatively normal family life, she's closest to her dad, who worked as a fireman for 30 years and sometimes just stays up all night talking to him whenever she feels the stress getting to her.

He isn’t married but he does have a boyfriend. And he is the product of a single mother who was artificially inseminated.

Description: A regular gentlemen. He’s got the whole holding the door open, pulling out the chair, ladies first thing going on.
Henry grew up in hard times. His family was so poor, that they were actually homeless from the time he was six until he was fourteen, but he doesn’t let that get him down. He is the one most of the team goes to for ‘fatherly’ advise.

Description: As a detective, Nikki often works with the CSI’s on their cases, but only a the scenes and in the interrogation room. Her to-the-point attitude makes her the ideal ‘bad cop’ to suspects. And if she thinks you’re guilty, you’d better watch your words and try not to lie. This chick has a sixth sense for liars. No one knows how she came to posses it, some say she just was born with it.
As a child she lived in California but fell in love with the hills of Tennessee. Her family was middle upper class and had a darling little summer home on one of this state’s many mountains. They’d often stay there when Nikki’s dad had his ‘friends’ from Columbia come for a visit. She eventually moved into the house when her father was murdered by his ‘friends’ when she was nineteen. Nikki later decided to pursue a career in criminal investigation and put those killers behind bars. It took her seven years to do it.

Description: Amanda has a strict southern attitude that often gets her into trouble. She knows how to get on a person’s bad side and usually does but since she does her job better than anyone else can and is a major kiss-up to authority, she’s managed to keep her job for ten years.
Amanda was the most popular and prettiest girl in school growing up. She was head cheerleader, had at least a B in every class, captain of the football team boyfriend, everything was going great until her parents’ business went under and they went bankrupt. After this happened, she had to be taken out of her private school and put into public. Since her family just happened to move to the bad side of town, Amanda had a hard time but made up for it by becoming a bit of a bully. She was often in trouble but still somehow was able to keep her own grades up without forcing someone else to do her work for her. Her bully-like image followed her and it probably isn’t going away.
